B YOUNG’S ON REPEAT

Drake, PartyNextDoor & Don Tolliver: the UK R&B favourite shares the tracks he had On Repeat whilst concocting his new album.

Hackney native B Young has become a household name in the UK R&B space still emerging at the backend of the 2010s with hit singles like “Jumanji” and “079ME”. He’s just shared his latest body of work, ESC, a sonically expansive and acutely performed collection of songs that continue to cement Young’s acclaim and showcase his artistic capabilities and ambitions. Wonderland asked B Young to round up the tracks that he had On Repeat whilst creating the album, with the artist offering: “These tracks each played a key role in shaping the direction and sound of my album, inspiring me to blend authentic storytelling with beats and vibes that feel fresh and relevant right now.”

Mavado – “When U Feel Lonely”

Mavado’s ability to channel deep, raw emotion into his music inspired me to incorporate more vulnerability and intimacy in my own songs, letting listeners feel the emotion right alongside me.

PartyNextDoor -“Only U”

PartyNextDoor’s blend of sensuality and moodiness in “Only U” encouraged me to add layers of atmosphere to my music, crafting songs that feel like late-night confessions.

Adekunle Gold ft. Davido – “High”

The energy in “High” is undeniable, and Adekunle Gold’s blend of Afrobeat with mainstream appeal pushed me to create tracks that bring that same infectious rhythm and vibe.

Drake – “Blem”

Drake’s laid-back flow and island-inspired beats in “Blem” influenced me to incorporate a relaxed yet catchy vibe into my album, aiming for music that feels both effortless and addictive.

Morad – “Sigue”

The authenticity and grit in Morad’s sound inspired me to stay true to my roots and add some raw, unfiltered elements to my own work, bringing in that sense of realness that resonates deeply with listeners.

Metro Boomin x Don Toliver – “Around Me”

Don Toliver’s unique vocal style and atmospheric production in “Around Me” pushed me to experiment with more ethereal sounds and melodies, creating a sense of floating through the music and allowing each track to feel immersive.

The Kid LAROI – “WITHOUT YOU”

The raw honesty and vulnerability in “WITHOUT YOU” inspired me to open up more in my lyrics, showing the highs and lows of relationships and personal experiences in a way that feels relatable and real.
